Svmuu News The Ethereum Foundation elaborated on the collaborative relationship and respective role positioning between Ethereum L1 and L2. The article points out that the primary goal of L2 has shifted from scaling Ethereum to providing differentiated functionalities, customized services, and independent market strategies. Meanwhile, L1 should continue to scale as a permissionless hub for global settlement, shared state, liquidity, and DeFi, without sacrificing core attributes such as censorship resistance, open source, privacy, and security.
The article suggests that L2s seeking the closest integration with L1 should advance synchronous composability, full interoperability, shared liquidity, and Stage 2 verification, and explore native Rollup mechanisms. L2s should at least achieve Stage 1 and pass the "walkaway" test, ensuring users can safely exit to L1 even in the presence of malicious operators.
The Ethereum Foundation stated it will continue to expand L1 and blob capacity, advance research and development of native Rollup technology, improve L1 liquidity and L2's access to liquidity, collaborate with institutions like L2Beat to monitor L2 security attributes, and establish a Platform team led by Josh Rudolf to enhance the overall Ethereum platform experience.
