Sources: U.S. Department of Commerce Approves OpenAI's Widespread Rollout of the GPT-5.6 Model
Svmuu News: The U.S. Department of Commerce has approved OpenAI’s widespread rollout of the GPT-5.6 model. According to sources familiar with the matter, OpenAI is expected to officially launch GPT-5.6 on a large scale this week, having completed additional security testing and held multiple rounds of meetings with U.S. government officials. Previously, OpenAI was only authorized to roll out GPT-5.6 in phases to select government-approved institutions, similar to the release restrictions previously imposed on Anthropic’s Mythos and Fable models.
