Svmuu News: On July 12, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Baghaei provided an update today (July 12) on the recent visit to Oman by the Iranian foreign minister and the talks that took place there. The foreign ministers of Iran and Oman held talks on the 11th in Muscat, the capital of Oman, The two sides discussed the coordination mechanism for navigation and traffic management in the Strait of Hormuz, with legal and technical delegations from both countries participating in the talks. Baghaei stated that the two sides focused on exchanging views on ensuring the safety of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, respecting the sovereign rights of both countries, and the application of international law, and also discussed relevant provisions of Article 5 of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. The Iranian side emphasized that future arrangements for the management of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz should be formulated through consultations between Iran and Oman, taking fully into account the military operations against Iran carried out by the United States and Israel over the past few months and their impact on the safety of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Bagaei stated that Iran and Oman agreed to continue consultations at the political, legal, and technical levels to reach a mutual understanding on the safety of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
