Svmuu News: On the 12th local time, commercial shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz dropped sharply after Iran announced it was closing the strait once again. According to commercial shipping tracking data cited by Iranian authorities, only 11 commercial vessels passed through the Strait of Hormuz in the past 24 hours, including 8 oil tankers and 3 cargo ships.
In the early hours of the 12th local time, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy issued a statement saying it had fired warning shots at a vessel in the Strait of Hormuz. The statement said that because the current unsafe situation was “caused by the illegal interference of foreign forces,” the Strait of Hormuz would be temporarily closed until further notice. No vessels will be permitted to pass through the strait until the United States ceases its intervention in the region. (CCTV News)
